200 sailing ships participate in the Grand Prix of the Ecole Navale de France

The sailing competition have been held this weekend at the bay of the south of Brest and in many other sites as scheduled in this 16th edition of the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale. The sailing race started on Wednesday, may 24th, and lasted until Saturday the 27th. With over 200 sail boats on the line, the event was impatiently awaited.

This year, the competitions broke the record of the number of participants. 700 sailors came from France and all around the world to race in the 4 regattas.  The program consisted of twelve series of one-design boats throughout all five sites : Brest, Lanvéoc-Poulmic, Roscanvel, Crozon-Morgat and Camaret. The municipalities Brest and of the peninsula of Crozon punctuated the 3 days of competition by festivities.

A great number of sailors were then present in beautiful summer conditions, for the Grand Prix de l’Ecole Navale de France, an event made possible with the help of sponsoring partners and volunteer mobilization.

« These ragattas are organized to prove that sails and competition are part of the learning process of the Ecole Navale. Not to mention the pleasure of sailing ! », says Benoît Lugun, director general of the Ecole Navale.
